The Central Illinois Feis, a CRN sanctioned Open Platform feis, hosted by the Shamrock Academy on December 7, 2019 was a wonderful event with a Christmas theme, complete with an Ugly Christmas Sweater Step About competition AND a visit by Santa Clause! The Shamrock Academy has an amazing group of fun and friendly volunteers that worked diligently all day (and I am sure for weeks leading up to the weekend) to put on an amazing event. The venue, the hotel, the awards and the atmosphere were perfect!
McGovern Irish Dance had a great time connecting with friends from across the nation and spending some quality time with their McGovern Irish Dance family and as usual our dancers were AMAZING! Over all our 22 McGovern Irish Dance, from both our Ohio and Indiana studios won 93 awards. Special congrats to Joie and Charlotte who now have their First Feis under their ghillies (and both of them placed in their dances!) as well as our dancers who leveled out of their Ullmhuchan dances – Vivi H moved out of her Treble Jig and Eleanor C moved out of her Hornpipe! We are all very proud of ALL of our dancers, not just for their wins, but for their “dancemanship”, kind hearts, grace, and enthusiasm. Their love for their team mates, Irish dance and the Irish dance/CRN community was shinning brightly this weekend.
We of course can’t leave out our Craobh grad dancer Kaleb D. who won 1st place in the Championship this weekend. Even though he sustained an injury in his solo dances, he pushed through and danced on a sprained ankle and won FIRST in the Championship. Kaleb has an amazing dedication to his Irish dance family and to being the very best he can be at all times.
Thanks to all of our McGovern Irish Dance parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends who support our dancers in so many ways! Thanks to my amazing dancers for being you. You all make me so happy and proud! And thanks to the Shamrock Academy for a lovely event!
