👣 A Friendly Reminder: Who Belongs in the Studio?
We absolutely love how supportive our dance families are — it means so much! 💕
However, during class time, only dancers enrolled in that class should be in the studio.
If you’re not the one dancing, please relax in the waiting area or come back to pick up your dancer at the end of class. Our studio space is cozy, and even the best cheerleaders can become little distractions when class is in session.
We know how special it is to see your dancer’s progress, which is why we schedule Visitor Days, Parent Peek-Ins, and even Facebook Lives in our private Parents’ Group throughout the year — so you won’t miss a thing!
When you are invited into the studio, please sit quietly and let the instructors lead. Coaching, correcting, or offering feedback — no matter how well-intentioned — can pull focus from the dancers and their learning.
Thank you for helping us keep class time focused, positive, and full of the joy of dance! ☘️💚
👉 Action Items for Families
💚 Join the McGovern Irish Dance Parent Connection!
We warmly invite all new parents—and those who haven’t yet—to join our private Facebook group: McGovern Irish Dance Parent Connection.📲 Stay Connected with McGovern Irish Dance!
We’re updating contact records and need your email + mobile number to keep you in the loop on schedules, newsletters, and events.
Parking at the Dayton Studio
Dart leagues are starting up at the Shamrock Club next to the Dayton studio. Their busiest nights are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with members typically arriving around 6:30 PM.
Because parking will be more limited on those evenings, we kindly ask all families to plan for drop-off and pick-up rather than waiting in the parking lot. There will not be space available for lingering during class times.
Monday adult dancers are welcome to park down the alley where Shelagh typically parks. Just keep my space open.
Thank you in advance for helping us keep traffic flowing smoothly and safely for everyone!
New to the Crew? Here’s Your McGovern Guide!
As you begin this journey, we want you to feel supported every step of the way. Our Welcome Page is designed especially for new dancers and parents—it includes everything you need to start strong and grow with confidence: what to wear, how to practice, how to connect with the music, and how to progress from a brand-new beginner to a proud Irish dancer.
Studio Rules, Ettiquette, Dress Codes
& Costume Orders
Ready to Dance? Pack Smart. Show Up Strong.
A great class starts before the music begins! Every dancer should arrive on time, dressed appropriately and ready to work.
Before heading to class, remember your:
Water bottle
Both pairs of dance shoes, when applicable
Towel
Deodorant
Kindness and a positive attitude
Proper dancewear should allow your dancer to move freely and help instructors clearly see their feet, legs and alignment. Please remember: no denim or jeggings.
